Thursday April 2nd, Surf City Squash tenth grade team captain, Reyna Pacheco, traveled to Williamstown, NY to play in the Silver Nationals junior squash tournament. She represented SCS beautifully both on the court and off. Reyna fought her way through the nation's fiercest competetion to the finals where she lost 3-2.
Reyna began playing squash only three years ago when she was chosen to be team captain for SCS. Since then, she has successfully transformed herself into an inspirational leader both academically and athletically. Reyna trains at San Diego Squash religiously both independently and with her team. This commitment fueled by passion for the sport has catapulted her into the top forty young women squash players in the country.
By applying this amazing work ethic to her academic life, Reyna rose from a 1.88 to a 4.25 GPA. She now maintains this extraordinary grade point average by studying rigorously and working with individual tutors at SCS.
Thank you to Zafi Levy and the Swann family for hosting Reyna and negotiating her travel schedule. Also, a huge thanks to Lou Riceberg for sponsoring her trip to the East Coast. This incredible weekend couldn't have happened without your continuous support.
Congratulations Reyna. We are proud of you!
